1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, and to provide information to website operators.
In addition to traditional cookies, we use related technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage (browser-based storage that works similarly to cookies but is not sent to our servers automatically).
2. How HotelScope Uses Cookies and Browser Storage
2.1 Strictly Necessary (Essential) Cookies
These cookies are required for the Service to function. Without them, you cannot log in, stay logged in, or complete a booking. You cannot opt out of these cookies while using the Service.
| Cookie / Storage Key | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
sb-[ref]-auth-token | Supabase | Authentication session token — keeps you logged in | Session / up to 7 days |
sb-[ref]-auth-token-code-verifier | Supabase | PKCE auth flow security token | Session |
2.2 Functional / Preference Storage
These are stored in your browser's sessionStorage or localStorage (not sent as cookies to our servers) and are used to preserve your preferences between pages and sessions.
| Storage Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
hotelscope_search_url | Saves your last search URL so the "Back to results" button works correctly | Session |
hotelscope_city_bg | Remembers the hero background image for the city you searched | Session |
hotelscope_currency | Remembers your selected currency preference | Until cleared |
These are purely functional. They do not track you across websites and are not shared with third parties.
2.3 Analytics Cookies
HotelScope does not currently use third-party analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics). If we add analytics tools in the future, this policy will be updated and you will be informed.
2.4 Advertising and Tracking Cookies
HotelScope does not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies. We do not serve targeted advertisements.
3. Third-Party Cookies
The following third-party services may set cookies in connection with your use of HotelScope:
| Third Party | Purpose | Their Cookie Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing (set only during checkout flow) | Stripe Cookie Policy |
4. How to Control Cookies
4.1 Browser Settings
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Instructions for common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
Note: Blocking all cookies will prevent you from logging in or completing bookings on HotelScope, as authentication cookies are required.
4.2 Clearing Browser Storage
You can clear localStorage and sessionStorage through your browser's developer tools (Application tab → Storage) or by clearing your browser's cache and site data.
4.3 Opt-Out of Analytics (Future)
If HotelScope adds analytics tools in the future, we will provide an opt-out mechanism consistent with applicable law.
5. Do Not Track
HotelScope does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals. Because HotelScope does not engage in cross-site behavioral tracking, this has limited practical effect on your use of our Service.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add or change our use of cookies or similar technologies. We will update the "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, notify you via the Site or email.
